It isn’t an overstatement to suggest that recognition by competitors and peers in an industry is a telling sign of good practice. In fact, as it pertains to doing ‘good’ and reaching benchmarks - it serves both a sentimental and pragmatic function.

On Friday 23rd October 2020, Good Housing held a launch for their very first SDA project, Oak Tree. This project is a fully functional Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home and sits in the idyllic, verdant neighbourhood of Mount Colah. 

A combined pooling of Heavy-weights Hesta, Suncorp and The Paul Ramsay Foundation which forms a part of the Synergis Fund (founded by Social Ventures Australia, SVA) aims to eventually accrue $1 billion set aside for the investment in Specialist Disability Housing (SDA).

Good Housing has taken their first step towards their goal of pioneering a new way of living for extraordinary members of our society. The completion of the company's pilot home Oak Tree, presents a giant leap towards housing tenants in fully immersive, customisable environments that give them autonomy and ultimately a home.

In the case of the genesis of Good Housing, it's quite clear that, as Nietzsche stated, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how”. A pattern appears to be evident: one must have a source of motivation that exists outside the bottom line.
